Very much worth the price

My wife, my brother, his wife and I all did a cruise from Vancouver to Seward. Since our return to the Lower 48 was by plane out of ANC, we needed a way to get from Seward to Anchorage. After looking at several options (taxi, car rental, bus, rail), I decided on booking with Alaska Cruise Transfers (ACT), partly because of the schedule, partly because of the price, and partly because of the reviews on TripAdvisor. ACT delivered as hoped on all three.

There were people from ACT waiting in the ship terminal to help us find our bus – they were expecting us, and our particular bus was identified very clearly. Getting to and onto the bus was a very simple process. The bus left promptly at 8:00 am.

The speaker for our bus is VERY good at his job. He provided a lot of interesting facts about the areas that we drove through, some well-known, but many not so well-known. His delivery was polished and yet sincere, and also quite funny at times. All four of us enjoyed his talk, and I think that was the consensus of everyone else on the bus. We stopped at a wildlife center along the way, and this was also interesting. Lots of big critters (bears, moose, caribou) were there to be seen up-close-and-personal. The stop also provided a nice break in the middle of the ~ 130-mile drive from Seward to ANC.

We booked our trip directly with ACT, and I think we therefore saved a fair amount of money compared to what it would’ve cost had we booked through the cruise line. Getting ourselves and our luggage onto the bus was a no-brainer; I really can’t see a reason to get the cruise line involved. 08/14
